Remaining parades

I finally have times for the Riverton parade! We will be meeting at 5:30 PM just south of the LDS church on 1930 W 13400 S. The drop off point is at 2200 W 13400 S. The parade will begin at 6:30 PM and we are #76 in line. The parade ends at Riverton Park - approximately 12800 S 1300 W. Please remember that you must provide your own transportation to and from this parade. There will not be a bus. ALso, make sure to drink plenty of water over the coming days, Friday will be a hot day, and this parade is in the evening.

As for the Murray City parade, plan on being at the front parking lot of Ft. Herriman Middle School at 6:30 on Saturday, July 3. The bus will transport you to and from the parade route. Plan on being back at Ft. Herriman some time between 11 and 12, probably closer to 12.

I wish the best to all of you this weekend! I am sad that I can't be there with you. Make sure you put in your best effort the rest of this week.

Check the blog regularly over the coming weeks. I will try to get the music for fall show posted before our rehearsals on July 16 and 17 so you can show up a little better prepared.

Good luck! I'll see you soon!

Fall show rehearsals

Rehearsals for the fall show will begin in July. I will give you the dates today, with specific times in a week or so. Keep in mind these will be extended rehearsals (4 to 8 hours) so please block out these dates until times are provided. These rehearsals are required.

Friday, July 16
Saturday, July 17
Tuesday, July 27
Wednesday, July 28

Band camp will be during the week of August 9-13 (that is Monday through Friday), and continues on Monday and Tuesday the 16 and 17 of August. These will be all day rehearsals. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! We will be learning all of our drill during this week, so you cannot miss it. Rehearsals during the season will be for perfecting what we learn during this week. Please plan on being at rehearsal all day on these dates.

The marching band fee and fee schedule will be available mid-June. I apoligize for the delay, but I am still working out the details to make this as affordable as possible for everyone.

Things are really starting to come together and it looks like it will be a wonderful first year! I am getting very excited for this and I hope you are too!

Please make sure you read the next post as well regarding parade band.

See you soon!

Summer band info and reminder

Hello again! I hope your last days of school are going great. We have less than two weeks until our first rehearsal! I just wanted to make sure that everybody is ready for it. Here are a few things to remember.

1 - Proper footwear. Marching band is a demanding physical activity. Please make sure you are wearing comfortable athletic shoes. ***

2 - Proper clothing. Wear clothes that will be comfortable to exercise in. We will be running and doing other physical activity along with our daily marching. Shorts must be appropriate length. If there is any clothing deemed inappropriate by any of the instructors you will be asked to go home and change. We will be outside all the time due to the school situation. Please be prepared with a jacket in case in gets a bit rainy. We will be working under a large pavillion if it does, but it may be chilly.

3 - Sun protection - Please have sun glasses, hats, handkerchiefs, sunscreen and any other items to protect you from the sun. Like I said before, we will be outside all the time, so you need to be protected from the sun.

4 - Hydrate - Drink water! We need to be safe, so come well watered! Bring a water bottle with cold water in it.

*** All horn line and drum line students will need khaki shorts, white tennis shoes and white ankle socks for the parade uniform. This is not included in the summer band fee and must be provided by the student. The shirt is included in the summer band fee and will be provided. Shorts must be within 3 inches of the knee, above or below. Rehearsals are a great way to break in new shoes, so start wearing them to rehearsals as early as you can.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I will see you on June 14, 7:30 AM. DO NOT BE LATE!

Mr. Mangum
